Lebanon, PA \u2014 October 2<\/span>7<\/span>, 2025<\/span><\/span> \u2014 The Board of Directors of Lebanon County Christian Ministries (LCCM) has announced a significant commitment of <\/span>$350,000<\/span> to bolster community support programs aimed at addressing food insecurity<\/span> and utility <\/span>assistance<\/span> to combat no state budget, loss of SNAP benefits, and the delay of LIHEAP.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/font>This strategic investment reflects LCCM\u2019s unwavering dedication to serving vulnerable populations and enhancing the well-being of individuals and families in crisis. The funding will be directed toward expanding essential services, including the organization’s Market on 7<\/span>th<\/span><\/span> <\/span>c<\/span>haritable <\/span>f<\/span>ood <\/span>p<\/span>antry and the <\/span>upLIFT<\/span> Lite <\/span>p<\/span>rogram, providing utility <\/span>assistance<\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/font>\u201cThis commitment is a powerful statement of our board\u2019s belief in the mission of LCCM and the <\/span>anticipated <\/span>urgent needs of our community,\u201d said Bryan Smith, Executive Director of LCCM. \u201cWe are deeply grateful for their leadership and vision, which will allow us to reach more people with compassion and dignity.\u201d<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/font>The $350,000 includes $150,000, which is <\/span>anticipated<\/span> to be reimbursed once a state budget is <\/span>passed,<\/span> and the State Food Purchase Program is funded. The <\/span>remaining $200,000 will come from the <\/span>organization\u2019s<\/span> <\/span>crisis<\/span> reserve funds<\/span>. \u201cWe are very blessed that our community has supported LCCM\u2019s work, and we have been able to be good stewards of financial blessings and have prepared for a time such as this,\u201d Smith continued.<\/span> Smith invited community members, churches, foundations, and other organizations to partner with LCCM during this time and work to keep the ministry funded! You can <\/span>impact<\/span> lives <\/span>today;<\/span> no donation or contribution is too small.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/font>Current situation<\/span>\u00a0<\/font>No state budget<\/span> \u2013 the impact of no state budget is a lack of cash resources to <\/span>procure<\/span> food and support other community charitable food partners across Lebanon County. <\/span>The state<\/span> is currently $100,000 <\/span>behind on<\/span> state food funding<\/span> support<\/span> and will be another $50,000 behind in January. These are real dollars <\/span>that purchase<\/span> food.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/font>SNAP<\/span> \u2013 notice has been shared with SNAP recipients that they will receive no SNAP benefits in November. An estimated 2<\/span> <\/span>million Pennsylvania<\/span>n<\/span>s will not receive the SNAP resources in <\/span>November,<\/span> many who are already facing food insecurity. It is estimated <\/span>nearly <\/span>18,000<\/span> <\/span>people<\/span> are receiving SNAP in Lebanon County alone. <\/span>LCCM is <\/span>anticipating<\/span> an increased need <\/span>in<\/span> food<\/span>, <\/span>impacting<\/span> the Market on <\/span>7<\/span><\/span>th<\/span><\/span> \u2013<\/span> charitable food pantry.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0\u200b<\/span><\/font>LIHEAP<\/span> \u2013 the LIHEAP energy heating <\/span>assistance<\/span> program is on pause through December 3<\/span><\/span>rd<\/span><\/span>, from the <\/span>initial<\/span> November 3<\/span><\/span>rd<\/span><\/span> start. This will directly <\/span>impact<\/span> the utility <\/span>assistance<\/span> program, <\/span>upLIFT<\/span> Lite, at LCCM. These are real dollars invested in utilities and will be real dollars covered by LCCMs <\/span>donors<\/span>, and<\/span> will <\/span>not be supported through government reimbursement. <\/span>LIHEAP <\/span>is a government program aimed at providing cash <\/span>assistance<\/span> to fund heating needs.
