As a precautionary measure, Marcy had to take a leave of absence from her part-time job to protect both herself and her husband.\u00a0<span style=\"color:rgb(0, 0, 0)\">Allan is still unable to work due to medical issues, but is looking for work he could do from home.<\/span> In June, Marcy returned to her part-time job.\u00a0<br\/><br\/>\u201cThis is the new world,\u201d she said. \u201cI will put the mask on and go to work.\u201d<\/div> <div style=\"text-align:center;\"><div style=\"height: 10px; overflow: hidden;\"><\/div> <a class=\"wsite-button wsite-button-small wsite-button-normal\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lccm.us\/donations.html\" target=\"_blank\"> <span class=\"wsite-button-inner\">GIVE TODAY<\/span> <\/a> <div style=\"height: 10px; overflow: hidden;\"><\/div><\/div> <div class=\"paragraph\"><span style=\"color:rgb(0, 0, 0)\">But the medical bills during their hospital stays \u2013 and other bills &#8211; just kept piling up.<\/span><br\/><br\/><span style=\"color:rgb(0, 0, 0)\">\u201cWe just started getting bills and bills and bills,\u201d she said. \u201cI have Medicare. He\u2019s waiting for disability. We\u2019ve been getting desperate. It was just so much food. I also got soap and detergent.\u201d<\/span><br\/><br\/><span style=\"color:rgb(0, 0, 0)\">The Shindel household <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lccm.us\/news\/post-covid-19-lccm-executive-director-forecasts-needs-for-food-assistance-shelter\" target=\"_blank\">is just one of 68 that has sought emergency food orders at LCCM specifically because of economic hardship as a direct result of COVID-19.<br\/>\u200b<\/a><\/span><br\/><span style=\"color:rgb(0, 0, 0)\">While the future is uncertain, Marcy looks forward to the day when she can resume normal life again.<\/span><br\/><br\/><span style=\"color:rgb(0, 0, 0)\">\u201cI look forwarding to taking a nice drive or going on a nice walk,\u201d she said. \u201cI jut want everything to be normal and no so nerve wracking.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Photo by Jeremy Long Allan and Marcy Shindel visited Lebanon County Christian Ministries for the first time recently.
